"The art of making round and oval carriers originated either at New Lebanon or Watervlier, New York, near the end of the eighteenth century. They were made at all Shaker communities. Construction of their famous carriers was one of the first, and unquestionably the last, of the Shaker craft industries. The last of the Shaker craftsmen, Brother Delmer C. Wilson of the Sabbathday Lake, Maine, community, made his final sets of carriers in 1955.
Mr. Richardson is proud to offer his reproduction of Brother Delmer C. Wilson's #4 shaker oval carrier in select cherry, hand-rubbed, oil finish to discriminating individuals at an attractive price of $49.00 plus shipping until August 31st.
Early American Life magazine has Mr. Richardson's reproduction of Brother Wilson's #4 carrier showcased on the front cover of the August 2009 edition on the newsstands now.
Honoring the fact that he has been chosen once again as an accomplished heritage artisan.
